  • You Will Need
    • 1 pkg. seasoning mix (included)
    • 1 pkg. pasta mix (included)
    • 1 pkg. dumpling mix (included)
    • 3½ cups chicken broth
    • 6 to 8 boneless, skinless chicken pieces, such as breasts and/or thighs (about 3½ to 4 lbs.)
    • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
    • ¾ cup red wine or water
  • My pasta was not cooked after the stated 25 minute cook time? Why?
Different slow cookers cook and keep temperatures differently. If your pasta is not done at 25 minutes, let it cook for 10-15 minutes longer, making sure to keep the lid on as much as possible to hold in the heat.
  • I only have low-sodium chicken broth. Will that work?
Yes, you can use low-sodium chicken broth as a substitute for regular chicken broth. If you find the end result a bit bland, throw a pinch of salt in to boost the flavor.
  • I don’t cook with wine. What else can I use instead?
You can replace the wine with an equal amount of water. Do not increase the broth, as this will make the meal too salty.
  • Can I use chicken with bones in and skin on?
At a minimum, the chicken skin should be removed to prevent too much fat in the dish. Bone-in chicken is fine, but carefully remove the bones before serving.
  • Can I use chicken breasts instead of chicken thighs?
Yes, you can use any combination of white and dark meat for this recipe; just try to use about 3 ½ lbs. total.
  • I don’t know what red wine to use. What would you suggest?
Any good deep red wine will work in this recipe, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or Chianti. Stay away from “spicy” reds like Shiraz or some Malbecs.
  • I don’t have any chicken broth. What can I use as an alternative?
Chicken bouillon cube(s) can be used as a substitute; refer to manufacturer’s instructions for how to hydrate to the amount of liquid required in this recipe (3 1/2 cups). You could also use water, but the flavor will be negatively impacted.
